The best thing about Sherpa is how invested they are in you as a student. It took me damn near a full 2yrs to "pass" the GMAT and I wholeheartedly believe it's because I didn't come to Sherpa first. Nafeez on day one knew everyone's name, our general backgrounds, our struggle points. Whatever. And the next year still knew all of the same information about me. He's been in the game so long he knows what levers to pull to get you motivated, what you need to do to succeed, and when to tell you to abandon something. As much as the program is a series of classes, you really feel like you're on a one on one personalized journey every step of the way.

The best part of being on the journey so long was seeing Sherpa's growth. They implement feedback immediately and can easily see what's working well and what's not. Some of my favorite highlights:

1. They're now a full service shop. From the day you open your textbook to the day you hit submit they have test materials, essay review, interview prep, and one on one ask me anything type review to get you there.
2. Retake one time for any reason at all. I took the course all the way through twice. And you could pay a nominal fee to retake certain struggle classes.
3. The app! Having material on an app instead of having to lug textbooks and printouts around all the time was great.
4. Ease of access. Everyone on that team is available damn near all the time. If you have a question pop up, got to a Sunday review session, schedule a 15min check-in on your progress, shoot them an email and get a response almost immediately.
5. They're REAL. No sugar coating, no bullshit. They will tell it like it is and meet you where you're at to get you through. If you are too hungover to take a practice test. Fine. It happens. Let's move on to the next day. They're not going to waste your time nor theirs telling you you messed up and they will do everything in their power to see you through the finish line.

I'm at Duke's Fuqua School of Business now with a full-tuition scholarship. Sherpa is a HUGE part of the reason I'm here.

I can’t speak for other prep courses - however, I was a part of the Forte MBALaunch program and I can tell you that I was the only one raving about my GMAT course.

My background is a liberal arts undergrad major who has worked in Sales and Recruiting for the past 5 years. In other words, I knew my MBA applications would showcase plenty of “soft skills”, but that I would need to depend more than most on the GMAT to show my ability to think quantitatively.

My teacher was Nafeez and while he teaches bomb strategies to be quicker in the quant section and emphasizes the importance of ace-ing the verbal section, he offers strategies and advice in personal motivation as well. This is one of the hardest obstacles to overcome as a fulltime working professional, but I really found the articles and outside-the-box advice that he sent regularly to be inspirational in helping me keep myself on track. Some memorable quotes: “Showing up is not”; “Quant questions are like music - you just need to learn how to recognize the music and do the right dance”; (that one is paraphrased).

I started with a 560 (without studying) then pretty quickly plateaued to around 650 after about 6 practice exams - this was frustrating, and it’s where the personal motivation became really important. But then something clicked and my last 3 practice exams were 730, 710 and 720. When I took the real exam, I scored a 720 and have since been accepted to UCLA and USC, both with scholarships.

Truthfully I don’t think there is even a point in looking into another GMAT prep course - Sherpa is the best one in the city.

Unlike any other GMAT prep company, Sherpa Prep should be renamed to "Sherpa Experience" because you will receive an all-encompassing preparation for all things related to the business school application process. Once you enroll in a class, you join the "Sherpa Family" and they will hold your hand to guide you along the entire business school journey. This company is committed like no other to ensuring you are not only successful on the GMAT but also in the business school process. Starting with my first GMAT class, my instructor, Nafeez, took time to provide business school application tips on all aspects (resume, interviews, essays, recommendations, etc). Sherpa does provide admissions consulting services to only Sherpa students, but I found that Nafeez was happy to share any information or answer questions we had regarding admissions at any point in time. For all the services you receive, the course pricing is a steal.

Methodology
Sherpa compares the GMAT studying process to playing basketball. The course is broken into two phases with your instructor serving as your "coach" throughout the process (in and out of class time). Phase 1 is where you learn the skills and plays for the game. Phase 2 is where you drill and practice until you're ready to take on Kobe. Throughout phase 1 and 2, you take a practice test every two weeks (just like playing preseason games) to become accustomed to the test conditions and learn how well you're picking up the material. You will only practice with real GMAT questions. Other companies may think they have understood the GMAT, but there's no better way to learn than from the test makers themselves.

Phase 1 consists of the 12 classes plus 18 packets that Sherpa has written themselves using real GMAT questions-- essentially a text book--as well as bi-weekly "experiments" (practice tests). Phase 2 consists of timed practice sessions of math and verbal using a list of real GMAT questions Sherpa has already curated for you.

During Phase 2, you will have regular check ins with your instructor. They also allow you to retake certain classes or even the whole course if you need to. This sets Sherpa apart from all other companies and shows their dedication to your success.

Class & Instructor
The class is 3.5 hours long for 9 weeks for 12 classes total. This translates to 40 hours of class time; much more than most other companies offer. My class occurred on Tuesday evenings. I'm typically an early bird and was worried about a long class after work; however, these classes are fast paced. There was not one instance in which I was ever bored or became tried; Nafeez's teaching style was captivating. On most nights, I left the class with more energy than I entered!

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Nafeez. The Sherpa instructors are the best in DC because they KNOW this test and they truly want you to crush it. Nafeez's knowledge, strategies, tips, and tricks are magical and mind boggling at times, but I was more impressed by his dedication to his students. He remembers small tidbits you tell him and he makes the class fun and comical at times. There is no one that wants you to succeed more than him and that is a true differentiator between any other company.

As someone whose taken a Manhattan Prep course, purchased Magoosh GMAT (twice), and even dabbled with Target Test Prep, I'm telling you that this is the only course that you need to take. I almost gave up on the GMAT completely, but Sherpa Prep has given me new life. Nafeez is GMAT guru. If the GMAT was a martial art, Nafeez would be a 10th degree black belt. His methods and tricks that he teaches cannot be found anywhere else. Questions that you think are impossible to solve, Nafeez makes them possible, digestible, and easy! My moral towards the GMAT has improved tremendously since attending this course. I look forward to reviewing, studying, and practicing what I've learned. The materials are extremely thorough and the content is great.

Lastly, but also very important, this course is an absolute steal at $999. Compare the price of this course with the courses of Manhattan Prep, Kaplan, Princeton Review, Veritas, ect,. You won't find a better bargain, and honestly, and I mean this with all my heart, if Sherpa Prep charged $2000, it would still a better investment than the alternatives.

Look no more. Sign up for Sherpa Prep, and you'll be extremely happy that you did.

Let me start off by saying that choosing Sherpa Prep was one of the best investments I have ever made. Nafeez, Jay, Nasheed, and the rest of the team are incredible. Let me start off by saying that choosing Sherpa Prep was one of the best investments I have ever made. Nafeez, Jay, Nasheed, and the rest of the team are incredible. It is without reservation that I can say that Sherpa Prep is the reason why I will be starting at a top 20 business school in just a few short months.

I was recommended to Sherpa by a friend who, much like me, knew that getting through the GMAT or the GRE was going to be the biggest hurdle in the application process. For me, I was facing math I hadn’t seen in at least 10 years and test anxiety. I had nine years of work experience in political fundraising and nonprofits, but no traditional business background. In the end, I made an over 140 point jump between my first GMAT score and my final GRE score (based on GMAT/GRE conversion). Nafeez helped me see the light that my application was stronger by submitting the GRE.

Sherpa Prep is a one stop shop and truly cares about their students. They’re invested in seeing students succeed. Nafeez has been with me every step of the way, including cultivating my list of schools, reading essays, reducing test anxiety and providing strategic advice along the application journey. He always made himself accessible via email or tutoring sessions to help me sort through problem sets or strategy.

If you put in the work, then Sherpa Prep will help you get the results you want and you’ll even have some fun in the process!

My journey has been VERY complicated, I went through a merger at work and it was a difficult year, Sherpa was flexible and showed me how much they cared about my application to the MBA of my dreams. They stuck with me. Their classes are the best, their materials are the best, but most of all, the people at Sherpa CARE and that is what makes them so special. They want you to succeed, they want you to get into the school you want and they also do the work to help you get there! I started at 0- really Im probably the worst student they had in terms of Quant skills. Nafeez and other tutors helped me get through it all and I improved so much! I am super grateful to Sherpa!! Also, it is absurd how cheap their programs are- their quality is beyond all other programs and they still charge much much much much less!!

Update: Thank you Sherpa! I wanted to update my review as I just got the call we all wait for! I was accepted to Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto! This was my TOP choice and I got in! I am incredibly grateful for Sherpa for their guidance throughout this entire process!!

The minute I got the call I thought to myself, I have to let everyone at Sherpa know! Why? Because I know how much they care, they are invested in your success, Don't think twice about going with Sherpa, your future self will thank you for it, you wont regret it!!

For anyone looking to take the GMAT I would highly recommend taking Sherpa Prep's GMAT Course.

I started my GMAT journey in January 2017 and opted to purchase an online class from EMPOWERGmat. I went through the online curriculum and took the free practice tests online to gauge my progress. From my class and practice test scores I was expecting to be in the mid 600 range. I was incredibly disappointed when I took the official test in May 2017 and scored a 550.

I realized I need to take others advice and bite the bullet and shell out for an actual class. I had done research and spoken friends, the program that kept coming up was Sherpa Prep. I signed up in June for the 9 week course and honestly it was the best thing I did. My instructor was Nafeez and the course was AMAZING. Not only was the curriculum very well put together, but he made the class fun and engaging.

The GMAT can be a daunting task, however with the right instructor, the right curriculum, and the right attitude you can make it fun. I thoroughly enjoyed going to class every week and once the course was over I continued to do tutoring with Nafeez with the awesome student discount. I am happy to report that in September 2017, just 4 months after the first time I took the GMAT, I improved my score by 110 POINTS and scored a 660!!

I couldn't be any happier with the amount of support I received from Sherpa Prep. My first encounter with them was great, but due to my own schedule conflicts I was not ready to take the GMAT. Thankfully they offer the ability to retake the course, no questions asked. I signed back up and retook it. The amount of support they provided for my second time around has been phenomenal.

The course is very demanding, but if you are able to put in the hours you will get results. The little things that Sherpa will teach you are beneficial even after you take the GMAT. I highly recommend this program for anyone looking to improve their GMAT score and seeking assistance in admissions consultation for graduate school. – Anthony

I began studying for the GMAT over a year ago by enrolling in a Manhattan in-person course. Not seeing the score increases that I wanted, I enrolled in private tutoring through Manhattan. After spending multiple thousands of dollars in preparation, my scores weren't where I needed them to be.

I enrolled in Sherpa Prep as a last effort to try and beat the GMAT. What I found was everything that was missing from the Manhattan way. Instructors who truly care and are deeply invested in the success of their students, prices that are incredibly affordable, and major growth in my scores.

There hasn't been a day that I have regretted enrolling. Nafeez is a brilliant teacher and has developed a curriculum that works for everyone. They are easily the best test prep group in the DC area, and anyone who chooses another company is making the wrong decision.

The course takes place over a 9-week period. The classes are about three hours long. A typical class will cover both fundamental content and practice questions/solutions. The course syllabus is extensive and will require a dedicated study effort. Sherpa will give you all the tools that you need to dominate the GMAT. In addition to the Official Guide study materials, Sherpa will provide you with access to their elite study packets. These packets are very thorough and cover everything that you need to know.

Nafeez was my instructor, and he was absolutely outstanding. The quality of instruction is top-tier. The small-class size allows for incredible access to the instructor. He was always available for one-on-one meetings before or after class, or during office hours. He was also extremely responsive by e-mail. Sherpa definitely provides a personalized experience. They will know you by-name. They also stress that you are a Sherpa student for life, and they will continue to offer help for as long as you are studying for the GMAT.

Enrolling in Sherpa is a worthwhile investment. I can't imagine taking the GMAT without Sherpa Prep. Altogether, my score increased by 100 points. Sherpa Prep has my highest recommendation.

I stumbled upon Sherpa while doing a preliminary search for GMAT prep in the DC area and I attended a free sample class. A few things stood out in particular:

1. Smaller class size where the instructor, Nafeez, was actively engaged with each student.
2. Based on the way he was asking questions, I could tell he tailored his examples/explanations to address various learning styles. Then, he would make sure to spend time and explain in a way that everyone could understand in case anyone felt like they still did not get it.
3. He was blunt. Now this may sound odd or intimidating, but it's actually quite refreshing because he not only can point out what your weaknesses are, but also provides solutions to overcome those weaknesses.

When I started the class in May 2018, Nafeez conducted it in the same way as the sample class helping me understand the material and concepts in the way the testmaker made the test. Test prep companies tend to give you the solution and quickly move on, but Sherpa's instructors really take the time to break down the problem and talk through various ways to solve it.

There is definitely an element of self-interest in that it's up to you on how much work you want to put into the course to improve, but Sherpa gives you all the tools and resources to make a difference in your score. They are very invested in you because they care so I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a GMAT/GRE prep course. Don't expect to come in and learn everything in a few classes because practicing their techniques is where it takes time, but proves to be worth it.

Lastly, I want to say thank you to Nafeez for being such an awesome instructor and saying it how it is because I could be more honest with myself about where I was and how much work I needed to do. It's truly helped me move forward in the process.

They work hard to make sure your enrollment is complete, if you need to reschedule any classes, and answer any questions you may have. The test prep itself is phenomenal!! The course is designed to not only help you get the best score on the GMAT but boost your confidence in ways unimaginable. My instructor Nafeez provided excellent instruction and guidance throughout the course and beyond. He genuinely cares about your success. The other instructors that teach the course are just as personable and skilled to guide you to a winning score. I've taken test prep with other companies but this company is the best hands down on all fronts.

If you're aiming for an elite GMAT score (700+), Sherpa Prep is 100% the course for you. They have truly "hacked" the GMAT and designed a comprehensive course that makes conquering the GMAT simply a matter of how much time/effort you put in.

My course instructor was Nasheed, who was fantastic, but I also worked with two other GMAT instructors, Nafeez and Erin, during makeup classes and office hours. All of Sherpa's instructors are incredibly smart (they all scored like 790s or something insane) and teach both content and testing strategies. In addition to the learning side of the course, all of the instructors set aside "check-ins" with each student. They all are invested in your learning and take the time to encourage you along the way.

The course is broken down into two parts: Phase 1 (all the classes) and Phase 2 (drilling practice problems in a strategic way). Phase 1 goes over math/verbal content and all these short-cuts/tips/tricks that you absolutely need to answer the questions quickly. Phase 2 is a formulated review series where you go through several practices tests a week. Overall, I spent about 4 1/2 months from start to finish. You're advised to wait until Phase 2 starts to schedule your exam.

Sherpa provides the official GMAT guide textbooks, 18 "sherpa packets" (basically their own textbook of notes), 2 additional MBA.com official practice tests, free office hours, and free "check-ins" throughout Phase 1 and 2. They also let you take class repeats for a small fee (I think $25/class). I did 3 of these "targeted repeats" to keep everything fresh as I was getting closer to the test - definitely worth it. The value of this course is undeniable. It's a good deal and worth every penny.

I highly recommend Sherpa to anyone taking the GMAT - and, knowing the quality of the GMAT course, I'm sure their GRE courses are top notch as well.

I highly recommend Sherpa Prep to prep for graduate school. I highly recommend Sherpa Prep to prep for graduate school. The price of the course for 12 classes at 3.5 hours each is well worth it with the quality of information and knowledge of tricks you learn. They give you a very structured lesson plan with tasks to finish each week which will benefit anyone who needs discipline and motivation to start. You do have to put in work outside of the classes to get the results you want but by following their syllabus diligently you'll be glad when you take your exam.

My instructor was Nafeez and the way he teaches is very detailed and insightful. If you have a question never will you feel scared to ask and he will always explain it out to you. The classes might be 3.5 hours but they went by so fast because he incorporates inspirational tips of what business school wants/is, what the GMAT is about, the psychological factors on test day, etc. which also gives a refreshing perspective and makes you strive harder to reach your goal.

They also offer quick chats for students and students who have finished their courses to stay within the Sherpa circle - which are 15 minutes to ask any questions you want (from GMAT studying, the application process, business school questions, stress, anything!!, etc.). Even when sometimes I've doubted myself along the process, after I talk to Nafeez during our quick chats he gives the most real advice relating to my situation and that casts away my doubts. It's like a nice therapeutic session that motivates you to keep on going!

This company truly cares about having a relationship with their students and wanting the best for them! I've also sat in classes or worked with other instructors Nasheed, Erin, Tae, and Dylan and they are all very intelligent, quirky, and excellent teachers giving you the best quality teaching and consulting you need/want. Keep up the great work Sherpa Prep Team and thank you for truly investing in your students!

The Sherpa course is targeted and broken down to help students learn how to apply specific concepts on the test. Sherpa prep also provided me with tons of resources outside of coursework too, such as office hours, quick chats with Nafeez, and retaking the course, to help get me over the finish line. Taking the extra time with Sherpa was incredibly helpful and raised by target score by almost 100 points, allowing me to meet my goal.

If you are serious about the GMAT you should take the Sherpa prep course!!

Beyond that, I can tell you that instructor Nafeez is an engaging, fun and interesting teacher (that mattered to me when taking a class 6-10pm on a weekday after a full day of work/other activities). He explains concepts well and speaks clearly. I cannot speak highly enough of this class and company.

I ended up enrolling in GMAT prep with Sherpa and strongly suggest anyone who's considering an MBA to do the same. I could not have anticipated how challenging the entire process was going to be.

Initially,12 weeks seemed long...now, I actually wish the class was longer. There's a lot of homework, and it's really in your benefit to do as much of it as possible. I don't recommend you dive in looking for a little something extra to do. This class is intense. You need to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours/week outside of class. Throughout the class you're instructed to take practice exams, and I kid you not, you have to write your scratch paper a certain way and bring it in for review.

And your relationship with Sherpa continues after the class is over. You can go to Office Hours every Sunday from 6p-9p and ask questions that might have stumped you during your weekly study. I'm still focused on the exam side of things but plan on using the MBA admissions consulting, as well.

This experience was so personalized and an amazing value. I strongly recommend Nafeez and the Sherpa Team.

His admissions counseling services are also outstanding - he really helped me to find my voice in my applications and highlight the professional experience that made my application stand out. As a result, I have currently made the first round of cuts at all of the schools I have applied to and feel prepared to succeed no matter where I go.

There's no other place to go for business school and GMAT prep!

I can't recommend Sherpa Prep highly enough. I did a lot of research before choosing a GMAT prep course and I'm confident I couldn't have made a better choice.

Nafeez is a great instructor, and he and his team have created a high caliber course that includes their own supplementary material. Sherpa teaches simple strategies that I haven't been able to find taught anywhere else, and they work! There's no way this is replicated by any of the name brand prep companies and I've subsequently been able to improve my score by 110 points. Not to mention Nafeez also takes considerable time outside of class to personally work with each student until they are happy with their score, even after the course ends!

After all that, what Sherpa offers is still somehow significantly cheaper than anything their competitors offer. I've already recommended Sherpa to two of my friends who are currently enrolled in the course and they're equally as happy as I am. Taking a Sherpa course is really a no brainer if you have any ambitions to do well on the GMAT.
